The 2013 Espy Awards, held at the Nokia Theatre on July 17, brought out all of the sports celebrities. And with many dressed in dark colors, Maria Sharapova was a breath of fresh air amongst her colleagues. Sharapova was in attendance as both a presenter and nominee. Although she lost to her rival Serena Williams, Sharapova looked beautiful and classic throughout.
From toe to head, the stunning blonde athlete sported a 50s retro feel with a modern twist. Sharapova wore an elegant sliver metallic and pastel-green hued J. Mendel Resort 2014 dress paired with a simple Casadei pump. Sharapova completed her ensemble with Irene Neuwirth jewelry and opted for a very casual, yet very chic updo created by celebrity hair stylist Adir Abergel. Readers may remember that Adir coiffed Maria for the Porsche Design Re-Opening event on July 11.
The Makeup Examiner reader’s are in for a real treat, because just as with Maria’s stunning look at the Porsche Design Re-Opening event, Adir is sharing the complete “how-to” for Maria’s elegant coif. Adir received inspiration from the 50s silhouette of Maria’s dress and with that created an effortless and modern updo by strategically placing the undone chignon to emphasize the beautiful lines of the dress.
How To:
- Adir began by applying thickening spray at the roots to create volume.
- Next apply rejuvenating oil on ends to create shine and protection from heat.
- Follow this by rough-drying the hair until it is totally dry.
- Create a middle part. Using a one-inch curling iron, take one-inch sections of hair and curl them towards the face. Be certain to leave the ends out. Hair should be loosely curled.
- To create the updo, begin by applying texturizing spray and pull hair into a low loose ponytail secured with a clear elastic band.
- Be sure that the hair in front falls loose around the face. Next, take the ponytail and wrap it into a low circular bun and pin into place.
- Finish this look with COIFF Hold Spray for a style that will last all night.
