Ineke Perfume Launches ‘Scent Library’ for Fall 2013

Ineke perfumes announced in August, the launch of a new collection of their artisan perfumes from the brand’s Floral Curiosities fragrance collection. The collection, named the “Scent Library,” is an exquisite offering from the San Francisco based perfumer and brings the perfect scents to transition into the fall.

In January, The Makeup Examiner reviewed the “Alphabet Collection” and was equally impressed with both the fragrances and the packaging. As with each Ineke collection, the “Scent Library” (5 - 2.5 ml / 0.1 fl. oz $22) is elegantly packaged and is a beautiful addition to any décor. But, what is packaging of any beauty product if the product itself fails to impress? And, can a floral scent really be a good choice for the cooler months?

Fortunately Ineke doesn’t skimp on essential oils, which means that each perfume is of the highest quality. As for floral in the cooler months, yes you can and should. The “Scent Library” contains generous samples of each fragrance in the Floral Curiosities fragrance collection, which to The Makeup Examiner is always a plus as it gives me an opportunity to test drive a fragrance without a major financial commitment.

What The Makeup Examiner really enjoyed about Ineke’s latest offering is the faux book packaging. Each scent’s unique character is expressed through the artistically rendered packaging, which uses fine art and calligraphy in a vintage book design. Also, inside the book are “library cards” describing the fragrances. I always appreciate beautiful and creative presentations, which makes the “Scent Library” a perfect gift. Check out the slideshow and you’ll understand why I was so impressed. The detail of the packaging is so thoughtful and raises the standard for luxury beauty items. But, what about the fragrances, right? The five fragrances are listed below and each scent is unique, lovely, and gives us an opportunity to change up our scent from day to day.

The Scent Library:

  • Angel’s Trumpet (Brugmansia): Angel’s Trumpet opens with refreshing notes of honeydew melon, Seville orange and leafy greens. Angel Trumpet’s rich floralcy is then warmed by cinnamon leaf and allspice and supported by Virginia cedar and white musk.
  • Briar Rose (Rosa Rubiginosa): A pretty rose-violet accord given big character with supporting notes of black raspberry, green apple, warm spices, patchouli, cacao and vanilla.
  • Poet’s Jasmine (Jasminum officinale): A fragrance inspired by Poet’s Jasmine tea, replete with slices of citrus fruit. Added points of interest include star anise, rosemary, absinthe, frankincense, cardamom, hinoki wood and guaiac wood.
  • Scarlet Larkspur (Delphinium cardinale): A bright fruity opening of blood orange, red currant and morello cherry deepens over time with notes of claret wine, nutmeg, saffron, amyris wood, tonka bean and vanilla.
  • Sweet William (Dianthus barbatus): A peach schnapps note introduces the spicy Sweet William floral accord, and is further warmed with cinnamon, clove and cumin essential oils. The dominant wood notes are a blend of cedarwood, sandalwood and patchouli, softened with Bourbon vanilla.
Ineke’s collections are a lovely introduction to this artesian perfumer’s wares and individual perfumes are 2.5oz $95. As you peruse the brand’s website, you can almost feel what each perfume expresses and don’t be surprised if you find that a few hours have passed as you peruse. Ineke’s perfumes and collections are available at the Ineke Perfumer website and select retail locations.
