The Makeup Examiner brought readers news of the new Stila Dancing With the Stars collection on Aug. 29 and the collection was launched Sep. 1 exclusively at Ulta Beauty. TME was very fortunate to acquire one of Stila’s “Live.Love.Dance” sets, from the collection, and to offer her thoughts to you lovely readers. So without further ado, let’s dance our way through the review.
As TME readers know, with cosmetics The Makeup Examiner looks at two main qualities; pigment and consistency. And if the brand has the loveliest of statements, “We do not test ingredients or products on animals, nor do we ask others to test on our behalf. Our company is in full compliance with the labeling regulations set forth in the 7th Amendment to the European Union Cosmetics Directive,” that product will most likely end up in TME’s Makeup Vault!
Of course, all the lovely statements in the universe don’t mean much if a product fails to deliver. So, let’s check out each product in the Live.Love.Freestyle set ($39). The set includes seven eyeshadows, one cheek color, Stay All Day 10-in-1 HD Illuminating Beauty Balm, a Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner (Purple Tang), and a deluxe Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick (Patina 03).
Inspired by the Stila makeup used behind-the-scenes at “Dancing with the Stars,” each one of the four available sets (Samba, Tango, Freestyle and Cha-Cha) includes a makeup palette nostalgically packaged to reflect the inspiring dance style’s theme. The “Freestyle” set’s seven smoky eyeshadows are, En Pointe, Ambition, Motion, Mirror Ball, Chase, 8 Count and Twist, along with the check color, Steal The Show. The eyeshadows are highly pigmented, have a cashmere consistency and can be applied wet for an intensely sexy smoky eye look or applied dry for the romantic smoky eye appeal. The eyeshadows feel amazing and produce major color! Stila’s “Steal The Show” cheek color is a lovely subtle shade with the same cashmere consistency as the eyeshadows.
TME has never been a fan of water-resistant eye products, but this truly is a personal preference. With that said, The Makeup Examiner can’t deny that the Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner delivers amazing color and is so easy to work with. Moving on to the Stay All Day 10-in-1 HD Illuminating Beauty Balm (broad-spectrum SPF 30), which I wore under tinted moisturizer, made my skin feel smooth and look radiant. Last, but so far from least, is the Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick, which did indeed stay all day! TME is a lipstick and gloss junkie, but very discerning so when a quick swab of “Patina” lasted all day and didn’t show up on my coffee cup … it was love!
