Pixi Picks For The Holiday Season

TME readers know that Pixi Beauty is one of our favorite brands. Between its product quality, vast selection, price point, and cruelty-free status … how couldn’t one fall completely in love with this brand? Tis’ the season to look stunning right? Petra Strand of Pixi Beauty has chosen her must-have beauty suggestions to help you add a touch of festive glow for this very festive time of year.

The theme of the season is “Luminous & Lovely”! With that in mind, Petra chose Flawless Beauty Primer($22) – This primer gives a radiant, warm glow to the skin while evening out tone. The formula is loaded with skin loving ingredients such as pearl extract for revitalization, protection and anti-aging; Vitamin E to increase skin elasticity;

After the balm wears off, lips are left tinted with a flattering, personalized hue just for you (Colour & intensity depends on pH level of lips). The easy to use twist up crayon that requires no sharpening means that you’ll have a perfect pout all season long.

Moving on to the eyes, Endless Silky Eye Pen in GlimmeryBlack ($12) is a sexy deep black hue infused with silver micro-glimmer. The Endless Silky Eye Pen offers waterproof, super-long-wear, no-smudge, and no-budge beauty so you won’t have to stop for a touch-up! Rounding out Pixi Picks for the holiday season is the limited edition Pixi Nail Colour ($8) in God Jul (Swedish for “Happy Holidays”). This hue is a classic strawberry red that is perfect for the holidays.

TME readers know that Pixi Beauty is one of our favorite brands. Between product quality, vast selection, and cruelty-free status how couldn’t one fall completely in love with this brand? For September 2014, Petra focused upon creating a flawless “canvas” with skin-loving products, but for October she’s chosen a “Futuristic” face.

Petra discusses her usual (outstanding) go-tos for a radiant complexion, which is always in vogue, but after seeing the striking gilded faces during NYFW Petra was left craving something bold. The look is luminous and a statement maker without being garish.

Pixi Beauty Picks For September 2014 Beauty and a Happy Birthday

Like or not, Summer 2014 is just about over. But before you get completely bummed, think about all of the beautiful new fall collections! Pixi Beauty, one of our favorite brands, has chosen an incredibly classic and on-trend nail color for Fall 2014, as well as a stunning limited edition nail shade to celebrate the brand’s 15^thBirthday!

Beyond just the gorgeous nail colors for Fall 2014, Pixi Beauty Picks For September 2014 focus upon creating a flawless “canvas” with two skin-loving products, guaranteed to take your skin to the next level. Despite having a great skincare regimen, there are days when we need a little boost (usually due to a lack of sleep -- we welcome any healthy suggestions to combat this problem). We digress …

Pixi Concealing Concentrate ($12) and Pixi Quick Fix Powder ($20) are two amazing products that will set your skin straight even on the worst of days. Pixi Beauty Fall 2014 Beauty Forecast

It’s the second week of August and summer has been flying by. It’s a bit of a bummer to realize that all too soon, the leaves will be turning and we’ll be headed into the cooler months. Of course, that happy flipside of the season changing is the seasonal beauty change. We here at TME are excited for all of the latest fall launches and were privy to get a sneak peek at Pixi by Petra’s Beauty Forecast for Fall 2014! So without further ado, let’s check out what Petra has in store for us!

On the runway, designers like Rodarte and Donna Karanoffered up some bangin’ looks with metallic touches for fall. Inspired by these looks, Pixi by Petra has created are few gorgeous new and luxurious products to keep us on-trend for fall. Starting with two amazing Mesmerizing Mineral Palettes in Silver Sky #0653 and Rich Gold #0654, these new palette colors upgrade the classic smokey eye with shimmering hues of Cobalt and Antique Gold. Each Mesmerizing Mineral Palette ($12) contains six coordinated colors that are silky smooth for easy blendability and include a double-ended sponge applicator.

Next up for Fall 2014 are Pixi Nail Colours in Imperial Blue #061 and Olive Gold #062 ($8), which offer a smooth, chip-resistant application and have built-in UV protection to prevent polish discoloration. Imperial Blue is an insane deep navy blue that is destined to become one of the must-have hues for F/W 14-15 and Olive Gold is golden metallic olive shade that is on-trend for fall. Pixi Beauty Picks For A Summer Beauty Getaway

Blah, blah, blah … The Makeup Examiner hears you as soon as she starts singing the praises of one of her favorite brands. But if you were to try let’s say Pixi Glow Tonic, TME can guarantee that you’d fall in love with Pixi by Petra as well. I’m seriously waiting to find a product from Pixi that I hate! I digress. For July, Petra Strand has picked a few must-haves, one of which is completely new!

So, what’s hot (other then the weather) for July? First up is Pixi Mini Flawless and Poreless Primer (&9). This perfectly travel-sized primer creates a seamless, silky canvas with a beautiful shine-free finish. The formula is ideal to wear alone and superior under makeup. Pixi Picks For Spring/Summer Beauty

Hands down, Pixi by Petra is one of The Makeup Examiner’s favorite brands. Go read a few of Pixi Reviews and you’ll easily understand why. With summer around the corner, it’s time to freshen up your look with a few new products from Pixi, and yeah, at least one will become a must-have! Introducing a trio of gorgeousness that will beautify any look, Pixi offers up New H2O Skin Tint, Natural Eye Brow Duo and Pixi Nail Color in Baby Girl-067!

H2O Skin Tint ($24) is a multifunctional product that is a timesaver for your beauty routine, as it moisturizes, smoothes and corrects. The unique gel-texture tinted moisturizer is lightweight that offers perfect buildable coverage. Available in Cream, Nude and Warm, H20 Skin Tint is full of super nourishing ingredients like green tea, rose water, English chamomile, and lavender.

Natural Brow Duo ($15) is a TME Favorite and a product that I can’t live without! Natural Brow Duo is available in three shades -- Natural Brown, Deep Brunette and Soft Black. Legit, it took minutes to obtain the perfect brow. With a waterproof formula, the multi-purpose brow duo has an angled pencil that gives precise application. Flip over to the other end, and apply a tinted soft-hold gel infused with nourishing Vitamin B for the perfect brow!

Rounding out Pixi Picks is Pixi Nail Color in Baby Girl-067 ($8), which is toluene, formaldehyde and DBP free. Baby Girl is brand new for May! And as with all Pixi polishes, it applies super smooth with a chip-resistant finish and UV protection to prevent polish discoloration.

Pixi Glow Tonic Review

Hello lovelies! You’ve read quite a bit about Pixi Beauty here at The Makeup Examiner and the more that I see about what this brand has to offer, the more impressed I get. You may have heard about Pixi Glow Tonic and maybe you’ve read that this offering from Pixi has gained a bit of a following. Pixi Glow Tonic has become a cult classic in the UK and just hit the US in January. Well, there’s a reason why this toner has everyone yakking … or in my case writing.

For those unfamiliar with Pixi Beauty you can check out TME’s other reviews, but I’ll give you a quick crash course. Created over 10 years ago by Petra Strand, Pixi launched a flagship boutique in Soho, London. The brand has enjoyed a loyal worldwide following thanks to its quality, whimsical packaging and good-for-you ingredients. Petra Strand believes, as I do, in enhancing a women’s natural beauty. Onto the toner … this beautiful rose gold liquid has a light rose scent and is effective for a wide demographic.

With aloe and witch hazel to smooth and tone the skin and glycolic acid to loosen the dead skin and exfoliate, Pixi Glow Tonic ($29) is great for getting the bumps under control. But it also firms the skin, evens out skin tone, reduces the look of fine lines and dark spots, all of which is obviously appealing to those with maturing skin. Glow Tonic has zero alcohol (no drying) and zero oil.

As with any skincare product, if you don’t use it, it doesn’t work. To use you pour a bit onto a cotton square and swipe it across your face. Do this in the morning and the evening, and follow up with moisturizer! TME has been using Pixi’s Glow Tonic for about 2 months and I’m hooked! The only thing that I regret about Glow Tonic is not using it when I first got it in January!!!!!

Pixi Beauty Spring 2014 Collection Preview and Sneak Peek Makeup Look

Happy Monday lovelies! Is everyone ready for a little peek at springtime? Well you’re in luck, because The Makeup Examiner was privy to Pixi Beauty’s Spring 2014 collection and a spring look … “Pretty Perky,” which was created by Petra Strand herself and the look is seriously perfect for everyone!

Before we get to the quick, 5-step look, let’s check out the preview of Pixi Beauty for Spring 2014. To kickoff Pixi Spring 2014, Pixi Beauty is introducing H20 Skin Tint ($24), available in Cream, Nude, Warm. The water-based tinted face gel evens out skin tone, has buildable coverage and an amazing lightweight feel. H20 Skin Tint is full of super nourishing ingredients like green tea, rose water, English chamomile, and lavender. TME’s favorite thing about this skin tint is the convenient tube-pump delivery!

Natural Brow Duo ($16) in two new shades, Deep Brunette and Soft Black is a TME favorite. Legit, it took minutes to obtain the perfect brow. The multi-purpose brow duo has a waterproof angled pencil for precise application on one end, and a tinted soft-hold gel infused with nourishing Vitamin B on the other end. Pixi Natural Brow Duo is absolutely going into TME’s Makeup Vault!

Hydrating Cheek Sheen Stick ($16), available in three shades, Gold Glow, Touch of Tan and Angel Pink is a sheer, long-wear, hydrating cheek color in a pop-up stick. Cheek Sheen offers a fresh and natural flush of color with a simple dab and blend application. The long-lasting formula eliminates need for touch ups and Cheek Sheen is formulated to give hydration to dry skin, but is not the least bit greasy.

Mesmerizing Mineral Palettes ($12 each) are gorgeous color coordinated palettes, each in on-trend Spring 2014 hues. The palette shades are Copper Peach, Emerald Gold, and Plum Quartz that contain six complementing shades. As with other Pixi eyeshadows, the palettes are rich, silky, and highly pigmented.

Pixi Endless Silky Eye Pen ($12) is introducing a new shade for Spring 2014, BronzeBeam, which brings the total jewel-toned hues available to 11 waterproof, long-wear, smudge-free shades. The Endless Silky Eye Pen is gentle on eyes and the unique formula gives the intense color of a liquid liner with the ease of a pencil application. Apply with short strokes and blend quickly. Other shades include, EmeraldGold, CopperGlow, SageGold, BlackNoir, BlackBlue, BlackTulip, BlackCocoa, DeepPlum, CaféGold and OysterGlow.

Pixi Beauty Shea Butter Lip Balm ($8) is available in six lip-loving shades: Comfort Clear, Honey Nectar, Natural Rose, Pixi Pink, Coral Crush, and Ripe Raspberry. The lightweight formula is packed with shea butter and vitamin E and the shades are phenomenal. Another TME favorite!

Rounding out Pixi’s Spring 2014 preview is Pixi Nail Color ($8), which is toluene, formaldehyde and DBP free and available in three new must-have shades, Sizzling Sunshine, Lime Lustre, Oh So Orange. These nail shades are saturated with color with and provide a high gloss finish.

Ready for Pixi Beauty Spring 2014 look from Petra? While some of the products aren’t available until March 1, this look can still be recreated for a perfect Valentine’s Day look.

Pretty Perky by Petra:

Smooth H2O Skin Tint onto complexion, starting at the center of face and blending outward for naturally perfected & hydrated skin. Layer if more coverage is desired.
Define eyes by applying a thin line of Lash Line Ink following upper lash line. Keep the side of felt tip applicator flat against skin for easy application.
Add 2-3 layers of Large Lash Mascara in Bold Black for maximum volume.
Perk up complexion by dabbing Cheek Sheen in Angel Pink to apples of cheeks. Blend up and out for a seamless effect.
Finish off by smoothing Shea Butter Lip Balm in Pixi Pink onto lips – this will keep lips deeply moisturized and tinted with a fresh pink shade.

The Pixi Beauty Spring 2014 collection will be available March 1 at the brand’s US website and Target stores nationwide.

Preview of Pixi Beauty 2013 Holiday Collection

Pixi Beauty is introducing several stunning kits for Holiday 2013 and The Makeup Examiner was lucky to snag a preview of Pixi Beauty’s holiday offerings. When The Makeup Examiner was approached to review the brand’s holiday kits, admittedly TME was unfamiliar with the Pixi Beauty brand, but is feeling rather fortunate to have been introduced to this lovely cosmetics house.

New to the Pixi Beauty brand, TME wanted to see who was behind this UK cult classic. Petra Strand, a 20-year veteran of the beauty industry and busy mother of two, has always been passionate about skincare and sought to create products that enhance a woman’s natural beauty, as well as addressing beauty issues while being worn. The Swedish native created multiple-use formulas in on-trend colors that are infused with botanicals and skin-friendly ingredients designed to smooth our complexions, while we wear them. Wow! That’s some serious multi-tasking. After a lot of research, Petra launched her flagship store in Soho, London in 1992 and apparently hit the ground running.

Ready for the Pixi Beauty 2013 Holiday Collection preview? For the holidays, Petra’s offerings begin with Eye Alchemy Assortment in Metallic Magic ($28). The gorgeous, limited edition eyeshadow palette contains 36 highly pigmented eyeshadows that range from nudes to intense pops of violet, which makes this palette a must-have for easy day-to-night looks. Mica provides dense natural pigment while Vitamin E protects the skin and adds to the cashmere feel. The Makeup Examiner was surprised that each one of the 36 shades work so well and can’t imagine anyone who wouldn’t want to receive the Eye Alchemy – Metallic Magic as a gift!

Next up for Pixi Beauty Holiday 2013 is Icy Eye Palette in Buff Blizzard ($12). The rich pigment and silky consistency quite frankly was a bit of a shocker considering the price point. The Makeup Examiner sincerely didn’t expect the shadow palette to be so lovely. TME readers know by now that I am not a shimmery gal, but I’m quickly learning to love the versatility that is offered in this palette. The six shades are perfect for a sexy, sophisticated smokey eye and the formulation of the Pixi’s shadows make them so easy to blend. The Icy Eye palette includes a large double-ended applicator, with the Eye Alchemy palette containing a large double-ended brush, making application precise and easy.

Moving on to the last (but far from least) offering in the holiday collection is Icy Lip Luster in Snowbunny Glace ($15). The Makeup Examiner loves her lip glosses and is admittedly a lip gloss snob, but I’ve learned from the massive amount of products that I’ve reviewed, that price is never indicative of quality. The kit contains four lip glosses that are incredibly moisturizing with a great cushion! Two glosses, Pink Orchard and Natural Rose are highly pigmented and the other two, Ice Petal and Ice Crystal offer mega-sparkle. The glosses can be worn alone or over lipstick and are such a well-chosen offering for the holiday season.
