Redken #NYFW Roundup Hair by Guido: Marc Jacobs, Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren

Guido, Redken Creative Consultant, styles hair for more than 80 fashion shows every year in New York, London, Milan, and Paris. He fuels trend-setting hairstyles around the globe every season and is the creative force behind fashion's most iconic hairstyles. For TME Readers, we’ve got the “Get The Look” for NYFW most iconic designers!

Show: Marc Jacobs Spring/Summer 2015

For the fourth season in a row, Redken Creative Consultant Guido created 60 custom wigs for the highly-anticipated Marc Jacobs Spring/Summer 2015 NYFW show. Working very closely with Marc Jacobs to complete his vision for the runway, Guido drew inspiration from the 70’s and 80’s to create a fantasy on the runway.

“The wigs we created are a total reflection of Marc Jacob’s style. He has a complete vision for his show, and the wigs really allowed us to bring this vision to life because they almost depersonalize the girls. We were inspired by the 70’s and 80’s and by Joey Ramone’s bowlish haircut. First, we dyed all of the wigs black and then we pre-cut them before the show so that we could custom cut them for each girl backstage to create that perfect bowl-shape with the heavy bang. Texture is also very important for this look.” - Guido, Redken Creative Consultant

Redken Products Used: wind blown 05 dry finishing spray, fashion waves 07 sea salt spray, hardwear 16 super strong sculpting gel, and control addict 28 high hold hairspray

Create the Look - Marc Jacobs:
  1. Apply hardwear 16 super strong sculpting gel to dry hair from root to ends and comb through until hair is completely saturated.
  2. Divide hair into two sections (top and bottom) in the back.
  3. Clip the bottom section down and out of the way.
  4. Using a finishing brush, start to brush the top section flat against the head, following the round of the head in one direction. Repeat with each section, making sure it’s very clean and neat-looking when finished.
  5. Blow dry hair until completely dry.
  6. Apply control addict 28 high hold hairspray to smooth any flyaways.
  7. Place wig on head.
  8. Cut the wig into a bowl-shape with a heavy bang.
  9. Mist water all over the wig until damp, and then liberally spray fashion waves 07 sea salt spray all over, scrunching into hair with fingers to create chunky texture.
  10. Allow to air dry and finish by thoroughly spraying wind blown 05 dry finishing spray all over the hair for added texture.

Show: Calvin Klein Spring/Summer 2015

Redken Creative Consultant Guido created a chic, Japanese-inspired chignon for Calvin Klein’s Spring/Summer 2015 NYFW show, adding a bit of toughness to the designer’s classic collection.

“The look at Calvin Klein is always very minimal and classic. This season the girl is still quite classic, but with a tough, sexy edge, which was inspired by the Japanese or chinoiserie kind of look. I simply pulled the hair back very tight with my fingers to create a high ponytail, and then twisted the hair into a chignon that’s a bit messy with little wispy hairs popping out of the bun.” - Guido, Redken Creative Consultant

Redken Products Used: forceful 23 super strength hairspray, Diamond Oil High Shine Airy Mist (available in November)

Create the Look - Calvin Klein:
  1. Liberally spray forceful 23 super strength hairspray and Diamond Oil High Shine Airy Mist throughout the hair, using fingers to work into the roots for texture and grip.
  2. Pull hair back into a tight, high ponytail with fingers, securing with an elastic.
  3. Twist the length of the ponytail into a tight chignon, fastening with small U-pins and allowing a few wispy strands of hair to stick out from the bun.
  4. Finish with another mist of forceful 23 super strength hairspray and Diamond Oil High Shine Airy Mist all over for added texture and shine.

Show: Ralph LaurenSpring/Summer 2015

Redken Creative Consultant Guido brought modern luxury to the Ralph Lauren runway once again, creating two classic, minimal looks to complement the designer’s collection. Guido created an elegant low ponytail and a beautiful, smooth blowout to bring to life the timeless, traditional lifestyle of Ralph Lauren.

“Ralph Lauren continues to tell the story of easy luxury on the runway. The hair is all about this beautiful, rich texture. Some of the girls have their hair back in an elegant, low ponytail, and some have their hair down, which is a nod to Ralph’s commitment to stay true to his brand rather than following the latest trends. These styles with rich, natural textures achieve a very classic, finished and modern feeling.” - Guido, Redken Creative Consultant

Redken Products Used: satinwear 02 prepping blow-dry lotion, fashion work 12 versatile hairspray, pillow proof blowdry express primer, pillow proof blowdry two day extender

Create the Look – Ralph Lauren Elegant Low Ponytail:
  1. Apply a nickel-sized amount of satinwear 02 prepping blow-dry lotion throughout damp hair.
  2. Create a side part and then blow-dry hair smooth using a round brush for added volume.
  3. Brush hair into a low ponytail, securing at the base of the head with a small elastic.
  4. Take a small section of hair from the ponytail and wrap it around the elastic, securing with a small pin.
  5. Finish with a mist of fashion work 12 versatile hairspray for a clean, polished look.

Create the Look – Ralph Lauren Relaxed Blowout:
  1. Shampoo and condition the hair with Redken Clear Moisture shampoo and conditioner
  2. Apply pillow proof blowdry express primer 2 damp hair
  3. Allow hair to dry naturally
  4. Use a curling iron to add movement into the mid-lengths and ends if necessary
  5. Spray pillow proof blowdry two day extender on mid-lengths and ends for added texture

Phillip Lim and Narciso Rodriguez Spring/Summer 2015 Get The Look

The Flyaway Knot at Phillip Lim SS15

“We have always been a global brand with a view and we take multiple views on beauty. The partnership with TRESemmé allows us to inspire women all around the world to achieve the looks that they see on our runway.” Phillip Lim, TRESemmé Designer Partner SS/15

“The hair at Phillip Lim is inspired by a cross between Stephen Klein’s 1990s photography and the romanticism of the Pre-Raphaelites, but with a punk edge. It’s a simple, organic and youthful look that allows the collection to shine whilst still being a look girls can achieve themselves.” Paul Hanlon, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Stylist for TRESemmé

Get The Look

Step 1: Prep the hair by applying TRESemmé Climate Control Mouse through the hairline and mid-lengths to add volume and give it hold without soaking the hair.

Step 2: Rough dry with the TRESemmé Salon Professional Volume Blow Dryer and then use a soft bristle brush to pull out and straighten the hair around the hairline.

Step 3: Use TRESemmé Fresh Start Volumizing Dry Shampoo on the roots of the hair to create a matte and moldable texture and then moving around the hairline, backcomb sine sections of the lengths and lightly spray with TRESemmé Climate Control Finishing Spray to define and hold.

Step 4: Pull the hair into a ponytail at the crown of the head and secure with a hair tie. Divide the lengths into two sections and then knot (as you would shoe laces) two to three times depending on the length of the air, secure with pins and leave the ends to stick out for a “punkier” look.

Step 5: Finally pull out strands around the sides and back of the hairline and finish with a spritz of TRESemmé Climate Control Finishing Spray

TRESemmé Products Used: TRESemmé Climate Control Mousse, TRESemmé Volumizing Fresh Start Dry Shampoo and TRESemmé Climate Control Finishing Spray. Tools Needed: TRESemmé Salon Professional Volume Blow Dryer, Soft bristle brush, fine toothed comb, and hair pins.

Step 2: Divide hair into 2-3 loose braids and dry with a diffuser

Step 3: Undo braids and retouch ends using a medium to large curling iron to define the waves shape

Step 4: Spray TRESemmé Thermal Creations Heat Tamer Spray all over to prevent damage and use a ceramic-plated straightener around the hairline to achieve a flattering wave movement

Step 5: Finish the look with TRESemmé Smooth & Silky Anti-Frizz Secret Crème

Toni & Guy Partner With Rankin For AW14 Campaign and Exclusive with Marchesa

RANKIN for TONI&GUY Hair Meet Wardrobe

Toni & Guy have teamed up with British portrait and fashion photographer, Rankin, to shoot the brand’s Autumn/Winter 2014 Hair Meet Wardrobe campaign. The campaign showcases hair styling fashion trends for the upcoming season. With Toni & Guy’s philosophy of “dressing from the head down,” Global Hair Ambassador Mark Hampton, with wardrobe by fashion stylist Anna Trevelyan, crafted four looks – Casual, Classic, Creative and Glamour.

Since making his first mark on the fashion industry working for Dazed & Confused magazine in 1992, Rankin has become what Toni & Guy called “a true icon of modern photography”. Rankin said, “Every image I shoot represents a concept from head-to-toe. The Toni & Guy Hair Meet Wardrobe ethos of “dressing from the head down” is one that I can really identify with. Working with a group of artists who all share this attitude and who are leading next season’s hair-fashion trends, has resulted in four striking visuals for the AW14 season.”

Clockwise: Casual, Classic, Glamour and Creative - RANKIN for TONI&GUY Hair Meet Wardrobe

Each shot embodies one of the four Toni & Guy Hair Meet Wardrobe styling collections and captures one of the key trends for the season as seen on the international catwalks, from the icy-cool Classic North Escape trend to the Parisian Glamour of La Bourgeoisie through to the organic Casual tones of Less & More and the Creative primal energy of Collapse.

Following the flurry of windswept knots and textured braids created at the Marchesa AW14 New York Fashion Week Catwalk show by Global Hair Ambassador Mark Hampton, Toni & Guy Hair Meet Wardrobe is excited to announce a “Limited Edition by Marchesa” product collaboration, to continue the brand partnership in 2014.

With a brand philosophy that style is not just about the clothes you wear, but your entire look from head to toe, Toni & Guy Hair Meet Wardrobe brings together hair and fashion, in a limited edition product collection, designed by Marchesa. Toni & Guy Hair Meet Wardrobe takes the Marchesa woman who, in the words of the brand’s designers is ‘feminine, dramatic and timeless’. From casual weekends, through to chic days in the office and red-carpet worthy evenings of glamour

The Limited Edition by Marchesa Collection for Toni & Guy Hair Meet Wardrobe Features:

  • Nourish Conditioner for Damaged Hair

The Tome A/W 2014 runway show saw James Boehmer behind the brush. “The collection has subtle elements of the 60's. The beauty muse was the Iranian artist Shirin Neshat and we specifically wanted to capture the spirit of how she wore her eyeliner. Exclusive ‘On The Runway with Estée Lauder Fall 2013: Get the look

Tom Pecheux for Estée Lauder created the new The Metallics Pure Color Collection, which launched at the beginning of August. Taking a look behind-the-scenes at the Derek Lam Fall 2013 Show, beautynistas are treated to an exclusive view of one of the season’s most exciting makeup lines and looks, and the full on how-to! Does a Wednesday get any better?

Let’s begin with the sexy, new, limited-edition The Metallics Pure Color Collection from Estée Lauder. The fall 2013 collection is a combination of the high reflective shine and intense color for eyes, lips and nails, which can be applied for a soft and elegant look or a smash bold intensely sexy look. The collection includes Pure Color Instant Intense EyeShadow Trios ($36) in eight different palettes, Pure Color High Intensity Lip Lacquer ($25) in 18 different hues, and Pure Color Vivid Shine Nail Lacquer by Jin Soon Choi for Estée Lauder ($20) in 8 shades.

Featured in this how-to is Estée Lauder Global Spokesmodel, Liu Wen. Her look is so enchanting, yet so achievable. How to Get the Beauty Look Created by Tom Pecheux for the Derek Lam Fall 2013 Show:

Face
  • Start with Advanced Night Repair Eye Serum Infusion applied under eye area for a beautiful, luminous look.
  • Massage your skin with Advanced Night Repair face serum, followed by your favorite Estée Lauder moisturizer.
  • Apply Double Wear Light Makeup and blend well.
  • Over foundation, use Illuminating Perfecting Primer at the top of cheekbones and on forehead as a highlighter.
  • Finish with Lucidity Translucent Loose Powder on T-zone only.
  • Note: Cheeks were absent of color. Kept nude, without hard definition, so all the focus was on eyes and lips.

Eyes
  • Create a ray of light at the center of eyelid only. With fingertips, apply subtle layers of shadow from center of lashline up to brow.
  • Start with a subtle wash of Pure Color EyeShadow in Black Crystals.
  • Over it, add Pure Color EyeShadow Duo in Raisins and layer only the deeper shade (on right).
  • Finish with Pure Color EyeShadow in Cyber Silver applied on top. Blend evenly for an earthy (bohemian) vibe.
  • Note: No mascara or brow definer is used for this look.

Lips
  • Smooth on Pure Color Vivid Shine Lipstick in Copper Flash across entire lip.
  • Over lipstick, use Double Wear Stay-in-Place Lip Pencil in Wine and generously apply across entire lip to add depth and create a matte look.
  • Using your finger, pat on Pure Color Gloss in Brazen Berry to create a lip stained effect

From this look, imagination is inspired and we can easily see how The Metallics Pure Color Collection can be utilized to get a multitude of looks for fall 2013. The Metallics Pure Color Collection is available at select locations nationwide and at Estée Lauder.
